The Organized Village of Kake Social Services Department offers the following services:
ICWA The Indian Child Welfare Act was enacted in 1978 in response to the overwhelming disparity amongst native families and children being removed. This law set forth provisions that were designed to preserve the native heritage and preserve connections to family and community. OVK-SS is dedicated to the wellness of our tribal citizens.
WELFARE ASSISTANCE Welfare Assistance is divided into three categories: General Assistance, Burial Assistance and Emergency Assistance. Each service is provided to those residing in the OVK Service Area. All benefits are income based and are issued via a voucher system.
FDPIR The Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations is a USDA food program that serves as an alternate to the SNAP benefits offered through the State of Alaska. Each benefit is income based and distributed monthly.
SAIL Southeast Alaska Independent Living is a regional service provided to our seniors and people with disabilities. The range of services include (but are not limited to) the following: - handicap accessories (i.e. wheelchairs, walkers, canes, etc.), - home modifications, and peer support for seniors of Alaska. All services are income based.
